It’s not easy to get into the hardware market, but it appears that the music streaming company will be able to tap into this market in the near future.
It’s not uncommon for Spotify to build its own hardware. A job posting for a hardware team was posted online in 2017. Candidates were expected to work on a product that is similar to the Pebble Watch and Amazon Echo.
A second job listing was added in February. It states that it is “creating its first products,” which is a sign that something is happening.

Potential Product
According to the job listings, Spotify may be developing a smart speaker or wearable device. These devices may be in development, but they might not be the first to be released. This is evident by the fact that users have reported being offered the opportunity to preorder an in-car device after opening Spotify.
One user claimed that the device was equipped with Amazon Alexa and could support 4G, and it cost $14.99 per month. The offer was quickly posted as a screenshot. It cost $12.99 per month for a 12-month commitment. The device appears to be a small circular display, with two buttons on each side. If the quote is any indication, voice control will also be available.
Spotify’s activities may be interesting, but it doesn’t rule out hardware. It also isn’t changing the core business of its music streaming service, which it does not.
